The Browns elevated Joe Flacco from the practice squad so he could play against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday.
Flacco went 26-for-45 for 311 yards, three touchdowns, an interception, a fumble, and a 92.0 passer rating. He’s thrown for 565 yards and five touchdowns in two starts since joining the Browns on Nov. 20th.
After the game, he was named the starter for the rest of the season. However, there was one problem with that. He needed to be on the Browns roster.
Flacco is actually on the Browns’ practice squad, meaning he’s technically free to sign with any team this week. He reverted back just after the game.
The Browns will offer Flacco a contract and it is clear that he will indeed sign.
Flacco does have the option to take any offer or any phone call that comes his way. Half of the NFL has used multiple starting quarterbacks this season, making Flacco’s status as a free agent even more intriguing. Nobody called him prior to the Browns. He may get a few more calls now.
