Coming off a stellar playoff run and Super Bowl appearance, Joe Burrow was hoping to have a great start to the 2022 season.
Playing in the first half at Cincinnati against the Pittsburgh Steelers, Burrow had already thrown three interceptions and lost a fumble, as he couldn’t find any rhythm on offense.
Overall, Burrow committed five turnovers on Sunday, and the Pittsburgh Steelers eked out a wild 23-20 win in overtime.
The Bengals thought they secured the win when Burrow found Ja’Marr Chase in the end zone for a touchdown with 2 seconds remaining in regulation. But the Steelers blocked Evan McPherson’s extra-point attempt, and the game went to overtime tied at 20-20.
The loss weighed heavy on Burrow, as he was viewed just staring off into the abyss in the locker room.
“Joe Burrow hasn’t showered. Hasn’t changed. Still wearing most of his uniform. Been sitting as his locker staring forward since the game ended,” Jeremy Rauch tweeted.

“Update: it’s been 45 minutes since the game ended. Media leaving locker room. He’s still sitting there. His only brief break was a quick press conference,” he added.
Burrow finished completing 33-of-53 passes for 338 yard with two touchdowns, four interceptions and the lost fumble.
He and the Bengals will travel to Dallas next week to take on the Cowboys. Burrow will be eager to prove that his week one performance was a one-off, and not the start of a classic Super Bowl hangover.
