After the incident involving Damar Hamlin last week, Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow has a newfound respect for medical staff and team trainers.
Burrow was one of the players at the Bengals’ Paycor Stadium when the Buffalo Bills player collapsed due to suffering a cardiac arrest. The ordeal stemmed from a collision with Tee Higgins – it’s believed that the impact caused Hamlin’s heart to fail.
Thankfully, personnel on the scene reacted quickly and were able to get the safety’s heart beating again. The man chiefly responsible has since been identified, you could read about that here.
Burrow, who’s preparing for a Wild Card fixture against the Baltimore Ravens set for this Sunday, spoke to Colin Cowherd on the latter’s podcast and described the night’s first responders as “badasses.”
The QB also admitted to looking at everyone in the training room “a little differently” when he walked in the following day.
Hamlin, meanwhile, is past the worst of it. The 23-year-old was released from the hospital this Wednesday after rigorous testing and has been pretty active on social media since regaining consciousness.
