Ex-LSU quarterback and Heisman winner Joe Burrow recently revealed that he and his teammates were nearly arrested following their national championship victory to finish the 2019 season.
The reason? Because they were smoking cigars inside the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans.
During a recent podcast interview transcribed by Cincinnati.com, Burrow said he wasn’t sure what was going on in the aftermath after the Tigers beat Clemson to finish off a perfect campaign.
“We were gonna smoke all the cigars in the locker room. And we started smoking them and the cops come in because I guess you’re not allowed to smoke inside or whatever,” Burrow said on The Full Send podcast. “And they start trying to arrest people in the locker room. Yeah. After we won the national title. We’re like, ‘What’s going? C’mon.’ This was in Louisiana. We played in New Orleans for the national title. They were trying to (arrest us). And then I think they finally realized like what are we doing?”
Burrow finished that title game against Clemson with 463 yards and five touchdowns as LSU won 42-25.
Burrow led the Cincinnati Bengals to a Super Bowl appearance last season, but lost to the Rams.
