There was a ton of trash talk from the Cincinnati Bengals during the days before the AFC Championship game. A few players on the team even disrespected the Chiefs stadium by naming it “Burrowhead” which was in reference to Burrow’s record against Mahomes.
Even the Cincinnati mayor has some brutal trash talk for the Chiefs. In the end, it did not work out for them.
Tight end Travis Kelce ended them all with his response after the AFC Championship game. He interrupted Mahomes’ interview to scream “Burrowhead my ass” and then called the Cincy mayor a ‘Jabroni’ during the celebration.
One person who did not participate in the trash talk was Joe Burrow. He was recently asked about the trash talk and he thinks the back and forth makes the game fun.
“I just think that’s what makes football fun,” Burrow said, via ProFootballTalk. “It’s all love at the end of the day. They know the respect that we have for them and I know the respect that they have for us. It’s an intense, emotional game. Things like that are going to happen, but I think that’s why the game is fun.”
With Joe Burrow and Patrick Mahomes being so dynamic at QB, we can expect many battles between them for the next 10 years or so. They are truly the new rival version of Manning and Brady and the fans are going to win every time they matchup.
The Bengals are headed home this year after they eliminated the Chiefs last season, but we could very well find these two teams back in this same position next season.
