Joe Burrow went to injured reserve on Saturday amid a flurry of roster moves, as expected. The Bengals had previously ruled him out for the season and head coach Zac Taylor shot down the idea that Burrow might be able to make a return should the team make the playoffs.
There was more news on Monday.
Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow underwent successful surgery on Monday afternoon to repair a torn ligament in his right wrist.
“The procedure went as planned and he is expected to make a complete recovery,” the Bengals announced in a statement. “Joe will return to Cincinnati this week to be with the team and begin the recovery and rehab process.”
The 26-year-old suffered a torn ligament during Cincinnati’s Week 11 loss to Baltimore in a game where he seemed to hurt his hand after throwing a touchdown pass despite not being touched on the play.
Burrow was at Paycor Stadium for Sunday’s loss to the Steelers. It sounds like he plans to remain with the team over the next six weeks.

The expectation is that Burrow will make a full recovery and be ready for the 2024 season.
On the season, Burrow completed 68% of his throws for 2,309 yards and 15 touchdowns with six interceptions.
