Cincinnati Bengals’ star quarterback Joe Burrow has given his first comments on the offseason trash talk from a prominent rival, the Kansas City Chiefs.
Burrow’s Bengals are 3-1 against Patrick Mahomes’ Chiefs, including a victory in the 2021 AFC Championship Game at Arrowhead. One year later, however, Kansas City got long-awaited revenge by defeating Cincy in the 2022 AFC title game en route to a Super Bowl 57 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles.
There has been some well-documented trash talk between Mahomes, teammate Travis Kelce and Cincy wideout Ja’Marr Chase. The latter recently made headlines when he said Burrow was the best quarterback in the game, adding “Pat Who?” in a reference to Mahomes.
Kelce responded by telling Chase to “never disrespect” his quarterback, and to be sure that he’s able to back up his trash talk.
During an interview with Complex Sports, Burrow decided to stay clear of the trash talk, instead offering a short-and-sweet message to the Bengals’ main AFC competitors:
“The best thing about that is it’s all settled on the field. So we’ll see them in December.”

For the third straight year, the Chiefs and Bengals will meet late in the regular season. Their Week 17 showdown will take place at Arrowhead on New Year’s Eve at 4:25 p.m. EST, surprisingly not in the prime time slot.
Burrow’s Bengals defeated Kansas City in Week 17 of the 2021 season before besting them again four weeks later to win the AFC crown.
They rekindled their rivalry in Week 13, with the Bengals holding on for a 27-24 win. Finally, Mahomes and Kansas City solved their Kryptonite with a thrilling last-second victory 23-20 in the AFC Championship Game.
Needless to say, Part 5 of Mahomes vs. Burrow on Dec. 31 cannot come soon enough.
