Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow has dropped an announcement on social media ahead of his team’s 2023 opener against the Cleveland Browns in less than two weeks’ time.
The former LSU star returned to practice on Wednesday after being sidelined for over a month with a calf injury and will be ready for Week 1 following fears he could miss the beginning of the upcoming campaign.
Burrow, who’s not that far removed from a Super Bowl appearance, having fired the Bengals to the final hurdle in 2022, is keen on getting back there as quickly as possible and is aware that he needs to play as much as he can in order to give himself the best shot at returning.
Since practicing, he’s taken to Instagram to announce his comeback with a cheeky throwback pic showing him wearing a LeBron James Cleveland Cavaliers jersey.
It appears he’s thrown some shade too considering his team will be playing away to the Browns on September 10.
Meanwhile, teammate Ja’Marr Chase was surprised to see the QB return so soon, telling reporters he had no idea Joe would be in practice until he saw him participating in the walkthrough on Wednesday.

Chase had advised Joe to sit out until at least Week 5 but was pleased to report that there were encouraging signs from his first training session since he went down injured.
“He looked good,” the wide receiver insisted, per ProFootballTalk. “I didn’t see hobbling. I didn’t see much. He doesn’t look like he’s having any problems.
“When Joe’s out there, it’s a little more dialed in. He’s stayed positive about the whole situation. It’s all about the health and how he feels. That’s the most important thing this year. We want to get him back, make sure he’s healthy, 100% healthy.”
