Joe Buck has predicted that something big and messy will go down this Super Bowl week and is happy he won’t be around.
Super Bowl 58 is set to take place at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas and the way Buck sees it, the NFL will not leave Sin City without something controversial happening.
The ‘Monday Night Football’ announcer joined hosts Randy Karraker and Brooke Grimsley on ‘The Opening Drive’ this week to speak about the upcoming Super Bowl 58 and various other topics.
Asked whether he would want to attend a Super Bowl outside of work, Buck revealed having gone to the one in Los Angeles because his daughters wanted to go. However, he is not willing to risk it all in Vegas.
“I do not have any desire to be there,” he said (H/T Awful Announcing). “It’s a lot of logistics. It’s a lot of congestion. I’m just not that way, I’m not looking for the Maxim party and going out all night. It’s just not my thing and you combine that with Vegas…there’s going to be some story, there’s gonna be something that happens because it’s Vegas and it won’t stay in Vegas.
“There’s gonna be a big something that happens. I don’t know what it is. I have no idea. That is going to be a mess, in my mind.”
Vegas is just the sort of city for messes. Still, the NFL probably won’t appreciate one of football’s most prominent commentators suggesting that something will taint their mega-event.
