The most recent slate of NFL fixtures was pretty entertaining. But Monday did not get off to a great start, with The Indianapolis Colts and Los Angeles Chargers duking out for this week’s iteration of MNF.
Despite the scrappy start, there was still reason for entertainment as Joe Buck got creative with the reporting, belting out a Christmas Carol of his own making to describe the first quarter of the contest.
12 Days Of Christmas
Buck would recap the period’s stats with his own version of Twelve Days of Christmas.
“Five first downs, four punts, three interceptions, two successful challenges, no third-down conversions, and a partridge,” he jingled.
This was likely the best play of the game, which had remained scoreless until L.A’s Austin Ekeler scored a rushing touchdown from one yard out before Cameron Dicker kicked to make it 7-0. The game ended 20-3, without the Colts scoring a single touchdown. Their only points came from a 46-yard field goal by Chase McLaughlin.
Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert threw for 235 yards and one interception off 24/31 passing. Ekeler was the only player to get into the end zone all night, scoring two TDs.
