Arizona Cardinals defensive end J.J. Watt is retiring from the NFL following an illustrious 12-year career. He essentially made that announcement on Tuesday as he announced his decision to retire at the end of the Cardinals’ regular season.
“Koa’s first ever NFL game. My last ever NFL home game. My heart is filled with nothing but love and gratitude. It’s been an absolute honor and a pleasure,” Watt wrote.
Watt’s wife, professional soccer player Kealia Watt, took to Twitter and gave her heartfelt reaction to the announcement.
“The greatest. I am so proud to be your wife,” she wrote on social media on Tuesday.
Watt has had to deal with multiple injuries in his career. His most recent was him revealing in early October that he needed his heart shocked back into rhythm after his heart went into atrial fibrillation.
