Arizona Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury is reportedly on the shortlist of possible replacements to lead Oklahoma’s football program after the stunning departure of Lincoln Riley.
It was reported by Adam Schefter that the Sooners have been eyeing Kingsbury, but it’s unclear if they have been in talks. The 42-year-old has two years left on his contract with Arizona.
Injured defensive star JJ Watt reacted to the news on Twitter.
“Killin’ it on the field and at the negotiating table,” defensive lineman J.J. Watt joked. “I see ya Kliff!”
The third-year coach has enjoyed his most successful season with the Cards after starting his career with a record of 13-18 in two years.
Before coming to Arizona, Kingsbury was the head coach for Texas Tech and garnered a 35-40 record with the Big 12 team.
