JJ Watt was a man who could defy logic with his feats of strength and skill, both on and off the gridiron.
The future hall of player defensive player recently was on a podcast and revealed that he squatted close to 700 pounds. After revealing that information, he seemed to regret ever doing it because the risk and reward were not worth it in the end.
As you know, Watt stayed injured quite a bit after dominating on the field for so long.
Watt’s NFL career ended in January 2023 following 10 years with the Houston Texans, two more with the Arizona Cardinals, and easily enough accolades to land the defensive end in the Pro Football Hall of Fame on the first run. He walked away as a 33-year-old and new father.
Watt heads into retirement with quite the resume.
Watt hit double-digits in sacks for four years straight, including two 20.5-sack campaigns and another 17.5-sack season in 2015. Watt piled up 41 passes defensed and 15 forced fumbles in that four-year run from 2012-15.

He made five First Team All-Pro squads, won NFL Defensive Player of the Year three times, and led the NFL in sacks in 2012 and 2015.
However, injuries would become an issue in four of the next five seasons. He ended his career playing a full 16-game slate for his send-off into retirement.
He posted 12.5 sacks and seven passes defensed, witnessed the birth of his son, and went through a scary health episode of atrial fibrillation, requiring his heart to be shocked back into rhythm.
Watt went through a lot, and now he gets to enjoy the fruits of his labor for the remainder of his life.
