J.J. Watt, recently commented on his teammate, Kyler Murray, not attending the Arizona Cardinals’ voluntary OTAs this week.
During a Zoom call with some of the local media on Tuesday, the former Defensive Player of the Year was asked if it matters that his team’s starting quarterback is not participating in OTAs this week.
Watt responded with a simple, “no,” and then he was asked why he doesn’t think it matters.
“All I need him to be there for is the first game of the [2022 season] and play good.”
It’s safe to say that Watt isn’t worried at all about Murray not being in attendance this week. Murray is among Cardinals veterans skipping the start of the team’s 2022 offseason program, according to NFL Media, choosing instead to train on his own.

Murray and the Cardinals have stopped discussing a potential long-term deal, which the QB’s agent all but demanded earlier this offseason. Reports first surfaced that Cardinals brass had concerns about Murray’s leadership, and the QB raised questions about his standing with the club when he removed all Cardinals pictures from his social media.
Now, that extension does not appear to be headed his way, Murray is not expected to suit up for the Cardinals — either in voluntary or mandatory offseason activities — without a new deal.
