There is speculation going around that ex-NFL defensive end J.J. Watt could make a return to football, with two enticing names as potential landing spots.
Watt retired from football after the Arizona Cardinals’ 2022 season. The three-time Defensive Player of the Year completed his two-year contract with Arizona and opted to walk away rather than suit up for his age-34 season.
But rumors are swirling that Watt could look at potentially joining younger brother T.J. Watt and the Pittsburgh Steelers or his home state team in the Green Bay Packers.
Regarding the Steelers, Watt recrntly had this Twitter interaction with Pittsburgh head coach Mike Tomlin:

Not only that, but ex-Steelers star cornerback Ike Taylor also advised Watt to “stay in shape”, since he may receive a phone call during the year.
And then during an appearance with Adam Schein on the “Rise and Schein Podcast”, Watt admitted that there was interest in joining the Packers when he was a free agent in 2021. Interestingly, Watt refused to share many details on the matter.
Though Watt hasn’t given any strong hints that he’s interested in coming out of retirement, one simply shouldn’t rule it out. The urge to continue playing, and the desire for a Super Bowl ring, just might build up more over time.
Tom Brady, Rob Gronkowski, Deion Sanders, Brett Favre, Eric Weddle and Marshawn Lynch are just some of the notable NFL legends who came out of retirement. Perhaps Watt will one day join that list as well.
