Justin Herbert and the Los Angeles Chargers have been a fun team to watch during the early stages of the 2021 season. Herbert has continued upon his path of excellence he started in his rookie season and many people are paying attention to it.
Jimmy Johnson took his love of Herbert to the next level during FOX NFL’s pregame on Sunday when he stated he would him to Patrick Mahomes if he were to hold a fantasy draft and start his own team.
“In fact, if I was drafting in the NFL today out of all the players, my number 1 pick will be Justin Herbert,” Johnson said. “Over Mahomes.
Coming into Week 5, Herbert has 1178 yards with nine touchdown passes and three interceptions and has dazzled with multiple impressive performances against talented teams.
Against the Raiders, he went 25-for-38 with 222 yards and three scores with no turnovers as the Chargers handled Jon Gruden’s team to run into first place in the AFC West and a 3-1 start to the season.
He finished his rookie year with 4336 yards and 31 touchdowns, despite being on a terrible team that dealt with a rash of injuries.
