The current Cowboys are far and wide apart from their dynastic teams of that era and Johnson was among those who came away shocked by the final play of their 19-12 loss to the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday.
“Dumb,” he wrote.
On Monday, Cowboys reporter Clarence Hill Jr. tweeted a comparison of Dak Prescott and Tony Romo’s career accolades after the loss.
Hill’s tweet caught the eye of Johnson so the former head coach had this to say about the Romo vs Prescott debate.

“Romo may have had more big plays but more interceptions.”
Romo enjoyed a 14-season career while the 29-year old Prescott is just seven years into his career. He has plenty of time to better his record, but no one knows how mnay shots he will get as a member of the Dallas Cowboys. For now, he will be playing QB with the team next season just because of how his contract is set up.
Prescott tossed a league-leading 15 interceptions on the season and threw two costly picks in the divisional round against the San Francisco 49ers.
The 2023 season will bring renewed hope for Prescott to separate himself from quarterbacks of the past as well as try to gain the trust his fan base again.
