The writing is very much on the wall for Jason Garrett. This was supposed to be the year where he showed people he could coach the Dallas Cowboys deep into the playoffs and possibly to the Super Bowl.
They started out 3-0, but now they sit at 6-7 and tied with the Eagles for first place in the NFC East in the midst of a 3-game winning streak. Barring a stunning deep run into the playoffs, Garrett’s 10-season tenure as the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys is surely over with.
Jimmy Johnson, like so many fans and former players, is not happy with the current product.
“The No. 1 motivator is fear. Fear of letting down your teammates, being embarrassed or fear of losing the job. Where is the fear in Dallas? There’s no fear in Dallas. It’s a country club where everybody is buddies,” Johnson said, per ESPN’s Ed Werder.
Johnson believes that “nobody will be happy” if Garrett were to return next season to coach the Cowboys.

“I don’t think so,” Johnson said of Garrett returning to the Cowboys on Sunday in his capacity as a Fox NFL analyst. “I think even if they win the division and even if they’re in the playoffs — I don’t see them winning a playoff game — and I think the negativity in Dallas and around the Cowboys right now, it would be miserable if he continued to be the head coach.”
“Nobody would be happy if he continued to be the head coach a year from now.”
The Cowboys will try to do something on Sunday they haven’t been able to do all year long — Beat a team above .500 when they face off against the Los Angeles Rams.
