Cleveland Browns owner Jimmy Haslam saw an opportunity during a recent NFL owner’s meeting to take a jab at Jerry Jones and he went for it.
On Wednesday, Haslam and the Dallas Cowboys owner made headlines following a comment made by Haslam during an NFL owners meeting last week.
Much like the rest of the world, the NFL owners have been forced to hold their meetings virtually, and a technical error on Jones’ side led to Haslem cracking a joke about him.
“They should keep Jerry on permanent mute.”
There’s a little bit of truth in every joke.
Back in 2016, Jones had high praise for the Browns owner, saying he thought he was a top-five owner in the NFL:

“I’m totally convinced that the Browns are going to be a factor as we look to the years ahead,” Jones told Steve Doerschuk of the Canton Repository. “Jimmy Haslam came into the league as one of the very best owners that we have. I’d put him in the top five. Right now.
“I recognize that he hasn’t had the success. Not everybody does early on. We didn’t have early success. But he’s firing at it. He’s committed. He works just as hard at this as with anything he’s ever done.”
