The New Orleans Saints have released a statement following reports of Jimmy Graham’s arrest this Friday night.
TMZ broke the news of the tight end being taken into custody as he was suspected to have been under the influence of a controlled substance. The Saints have confirmed news of the arrest via a short statement in which they revealed that Graham became disoriented because of a “medical episode” a doctor believes was “likely to be a seizure” and was also hospitalized.
“He [Graham] was taken into custody by local authorities and transported to a local hospital for evaluation … and spent the night under medical supervision and testing,” the team said.
Dr. John Amoss is said to be overseeing Graham’s care after supervising him on the night, with the player now with the team after being released.
The Saints are preparing for a preseason game against the Los Angeles Chargers this Sunday, having participated in a joint practice session earlier this week.
We wish Jimmy the best.
