Jimmy Garoppolo badly needed a team to still believe in him and he found it in Los Angeles.
The Los Angeles Rams signed Jimmy Garoppolo to a one-year deal, where he will join forces with Sean McVay, and likely serve as the backup quarterback for Matthew Stafford.
That team announced the deal Tuesday as the veteran met with the media for the first time.
In his conversation, he revealed why he decided to take his talents to the Rams.
“Having gone against them for so many years, I know how good this defense was. How the offense can put up points,” Garoppolo said. “It’s a good situation, man. That was a big part of my decision. I just wanted to find a good situation, good people around, and I think I found it here.”
He also stated head coach Sean McVay was a reason as well.

“He’s always been a very perceptive guy,” Garoppolo said of McVay. “He sees a lot of things. Sees it very well, sees it for what it is. And that’s a big part of how I got here. He had a vision, talked me through it, really just explained what he saw my role as.”
The Athletic‘s Jourdan Rodrigue reported that Jimmy Garoppolo said he “fell in love with the place” after Los Angeles showed interest. He liked that they were “straight to the point.”
It should be noted that Garoppolo will not be able to play immediately in 2024 as he has been suspended for the first two games of the regular season for violating the NFL’s performance-enhancing drug policy.
On Tuesday, Garoppolo revealed he violated the policy because he mishandled the NFL’s therapeutic use exemption when he initially joined the Raiders. His violation stemmed from his use of a prescription medication.
Jimmy Garoppolo Had Terrible 2023 Campaign With The Las Vegas Raiders
Jimmy Garoppolo, who spent six seasons with the San Francisco 49ers before playing for the Las Vegas Raiders last year, is looking to rebound his career even though he has been relegated to a backup role.
Garoppolo had a $72.5 million contract with the Raiders to be the future after they got rid of Derek Carr but he had a terrible season.
In six starts, Garoppolo posted a respectable 3-3 record while completing 65.5 percent of his passes for 1,205 yards and seven touchdowns. He would be benched for rookie quarterback Aidan O’Connell and wouldn’t play for the remainder of the year.
