Jimmie Ward had himself quite the night against the Los Angeles Rams offense.
The Rams’ two newest stars — receiver Odell Beckham Jr. and linebacker Von Miller — were in the starting lineup. They were all the talk leading up to the game, but neither one of them would put their stamp on this game.
Early in the first quarter, Ward picked off a Stafford pass in the direction of this newest weapon Odell Beckham Jr. Following the catch, Odell came in and trucked Ward.
In his postgame comments, the 30-year-old Niners safety was asked what was going through his head during the INT. He only cared about the tackle that put him on his butt.
“I was just thinking about how Odell came and hit me. How I’m going to have to pay him back next time I see him,” Ward said. “I’ve been waiting for a long time to hit him.”

The Rams and the 49ers played role reversal in the Rams’ 31-10 defeat at Levi’s Stadium. The Rams had a shot to tie the Arizona Cardinals for the NFC West lead, instead lost their second game in a row and saw their record drop to 7-3 overall and 1-2 in the division.
The 49ers improved to 4-5 by defeating the Rams for the fifth consecutive time.
