Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay is lucky to be alive as a new report from TMZ paints a frightening image of his near-death experience from just over a month ago.
According to the report, Irsay was found “unresponsive” on the bathroom floor at his residence in Carmel, Indiana on December 8, due to a suspected overdose. Police responded to a call at around 4:30 am, and upon their arrival, Irsay had been moved to his bed, where he was “struggling to breathe and had a weak pulse and constricted pupils.”
Police documents indicate that they attempted to revive Irsay with a sternum rub. When that didn’t work, they tried Narcan, which is used to revive individuals experiencing opiate overdoses.
After “responding slightly” to that, paramedics arrived and took other “life-saving” efforts before transporting Irsay to a nearby hospital, where he was successfully treated.
While it remains unknown exactly what Irsay ingested, his reason for hospitalization was classified as “overdose/poisoning.”
Irsay hadn’t been seen around the team in the ensuing weeks, and it was recently reported that he was receiving treatment in a hospital for a “respiratory illness.” No word yet on whether his current ailment is related to his December overdose.
