There is a lot of intrigue surrounding Jim Harbaugh ahead of the College Football Playoff.
The Michigan Wolverines head coach has been linked with a return to the NFL, but his current employers are keen on keeping him around and are ready to tie him down to a significant contract.
According to FOX Sports’ Colin Cowherd, Harbaugh is a top-priority signing for the Los Angeles Chargers following their firing of Brandon Staley and would be welcomed back to the pros should he decide to leave college football.
The Wolverines are facing consequences over COVID-19 violations while the results of the Connor Stalions sign-stealing investigation are yet to be disclosed. However, Cowherd has asserted that the head coach will be just fine as he can simply leave and walk right into a high-paying NFL job if the NCAA decides to punish him.
“Jim Harbaugh is going to be fine,” the FOX Sports host declared. “If the NCAA comes down too harshly or too punitively, he’ll just leave.”
Cowherd also accused the NCAA of being “petty” as he pointed out that misinformation about COVID-19 was coming from just about every avenue during the pandemic, while sign-stealing is legal up to a point.

“To Jim Harbaugh’s critics: He’s going to win,” he added. “He’s going to be fine. He’s going to go to the NFL and get $20 million per year.”
Bill Belichick is the only $20 million-a-year coach in the NFL. That could be about to change if Cowherd is to be believed.
