Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh might be an appealing target for one of the NFL head coaching vacancies, but it did not appear liek that to Miami.
Earlier this month, Dolphins owner Stephen Ross made it clear that he was not going to take Jim Harbaugh away from Michigan. “I’m not going to be the person that takes Jim Harbaugh from the University of Michigan. I hope he stays there. He’s a great coach,” Ross told reporters.
Ross, who grew up as a Michigan fan in his native Detroit, likes Harbaugh where he is, but something must’ve changed.
As the biggest donor in the history of the University of Michigan, it seems like Ross has had a change of mind and Harbaugh is on his way to Miami.
“Hearing from a reliable source Jim Harbaugh will tell the team today / tomorrow he is leaving to be the head coach of the Miami Dolphins. Could have taken the Minnesota job. Preferred Miami. ( outside chance Michigan pays over the top and he stays ) but bet on Miami.”
The former San Francisco 49ers coach led Michigan to a 12-2 season and a berth in the College Football Playoff this year. That included his first win over archrival Ohio State in his seventh year at UM.
