Under-fire Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh is understood to be an intriguing prospect where it concerns a certain NFL owner.
Harbaugh and the Wolverines are being investigated by the NCAA over sign-stealing allegations, but it won’t prevent the 59-year-old from landing a job in the NFL. It’s become clear that Harbaugh’s future in coaching hinges on the results of the probe being conducted by college football’s governing body, with a return to the pros now a distinct possibility.
According to Broncos insider Benjamin Allbright, Raiders owner Mark Davis is interested in Harbaugh, having cut ties with his head coach this week.
Josh McDaniels was terminated on Wednesday and it’s since been reported that Davis is “intrigued” by the prospect of bringing Harbaugh back to the NFL.
Commanders offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy is also thought to be the candidate for the job as Davis is intrigued by him as well. But, should Harbaugh decide to leave college football following the conclusion of the NCAA’s investigation, he would be the favorite to take over as permanent head coach in Vegas.
The Raiders have appointed linebackers coach Antonio Pierce as interim HC and he could fashion a viable candidate out of himself if he turns things around.
