The New York Jets have added to their squad this Wednesday in an effort to build the best possible offense around their new quarterback.
The Jets locked Aaron Rodgers up last month after much deliberation and have, so far, brought in a number of his former Green Bay Packers teammates, with Randall Cobb being the latest one.
According to ESPN, the Jets have agreed to a one-year deal with the wide receiver. Rodgers had the Packers bring Cobb back to Green Bay in 2021 after he spent two seasons away. He’s now set to reunite with the veteran on his new team.
Cobb’s career has been in freefall over the last few years. He matched a career-low 375 receiving yards in 2021, making 28 catches and scoring five touchdowns. Last season, he matched another career-low in TDs, scoring the single one. He also made 34 passes for a total of 417 yards.
The one-time Pro Bowler doesn’t appear to have a whole lot left to offer, but Rodgers clearly trusts him and their chemistry should be beneficial to the squad as the wide receiver could help get the offense in tune, having played alongside the four-time MVP for several years.
The wideout has found himself in the perfect situation, as pairing up with any other quarterback probably wouldn’t have made sense.
