The Jets entered Sunday’s rematch with the Patriots as one of the NFL’s 10 worst offenses, and they lived up to it by putting on an all-time terrible display of offensive playing football.
Totaling just 103 yards, with six first downs and a single three-point scoring drive, New York fell to 6-4 after the 10-3 loss that came on a punt return touchdown with just seconds to play.
Asked afterward about the inability of quarterback Zach Wilson and the offense to capitalize on anything in the game, head coach Robert Saleh was profanely blunt: “It was dog shit,” he told reporters.
“I don’t know. We couldn’t run the ball, either,” Saleh answered when asked about Wilson. “So, there’s a lot of things we need to look at to see if we can find efficiency in the offense. It’s not about pointing fingers at any one individual or one unit or one anything. It’s just finding the answers so we can start moving the ball.”
Wilson was emphatic that he didn’t let down the Jets defense.
“No. No,” he answered without explanation.

Zach Wilson went just 9 of 22 for 75 yards, averaging 3.5 yards per attempt, with zero touchdowns. The Jets ultimately finished with more punts (10) than Wilson had completed passes.
He and the Jets will return in Week 12 against the Bears.
