Quinnen Williams was arrested Thursday for allegedly possessing a gun at LaGuardia Airport, according to Port Authority officials. He was charged with criminal possession of a weapon.
The 22-year-old, who was drafted No. 3 overall by the Jets in 2019, had a permit for the weapon in Alabama, but not one in New York. It is unclear if Williams is being accused of trying to take the gun on the plane.
“We have been in contact with Quinnen Williams and are fully aware of the situation, a Jets spokesperson said in a statement, per Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News. “We will have no additional comment as this is a pending legal matter.”
Williams finished his rookie season with 28 tackles, 2.5 sacks, and one fumble recovery in 13 games with the Jets.
He’s set to appear in court March 25th.
