Everything is not all good in the Jets locker room.
Jets cornerback Ahmad “Sauce” Gardner found himself going viral Monday morning when he liked a tweet ripping his quarterback, Zach Wilson. On Sunday, the second-year quarterback completed nine of 22 pass attempts for 77 yards while the defnse held New England to three points before a punt return touchdown late in the fourth quarter.
Wilson was then asked in a postgame press conference if he felt he let the defense down, to which the former second-overall pick succinctly replied, “No.”
After the game, Gardner liked a critical tweet of Wilson that featured the second-year quarterback nearly throwing an interception while Jets tight end Tyler Conklin was open.
The tweet in question read: “You don’t owe your defense????”
“You don’t owe your defense anything @Zach Wilson,” wrote Cowboys cornerback Jourdan Lewis, who also posted a video of Wilson overthrowing a wide-open receiver.

Defensive end John Franklin-Myers also liked a critical tweet as well.
Both players have since said the likes were accidents.
“I swear I didn’t mean to like this tweet. I only found out because yall started tagging me. We gon’ be straight!” Gardner tweeted.
He attempted to further clarify … writing “If I liked it purposely, I just wouldn’t of said anything,”
“I always mistakenly like tweets on here, but y’all made sure y’all caught this one. Y’all toxic on here.”
Franklin-Myers added, “I ain’t mean to like that tweet! We got faith in Zach for sure! Ya’ll stop looking for problems, we got 7 games left to ball.”
It’s noteworthy that these accidents came from two prominent defensive players following one of the worst offensive performances of the season. The Jets totaled just two yards in the second half and lost on a last-second punt return touchdown by Marcus Jones.
“I think you got to take into account it’s windy as hell out there too, guys,” Wilson said. “There’s times where you can’t just completely try and take these shots down the field. You can see how much it’s moving out there.”
Fellow second-year quarterback Mac Jones completed 23 of his 27 passes for 246 yards while dealing with the same wind.
Through seven games this season, Wilson has thrown for 1,279 yards, four touchdowns, and five interceptions.
