A massive trade scenario idea has the New York Jets landing not one, but two superstars to bolster the offense around Aaron Rodgers. And here’s the catch: Both players are former teammates of Rodgers in Green Bay.
The Jets’ once-promising 2023 season abruptly ended once Rodgers suffered a season-ending Achilles tear in the club’s Week 1 opener against the Buffalo Bills. With Rodgers now 40 years of age, the time for New York to win is now.
Bleacher Report’s Alex Kay proposed five blockbuster trade ideas that could prevent a Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl three-peat. Kay outlined two separate blockbuster trade ideas that would bring old friends Davante Adams and David Bakhtiari over to the Jets.
Kay’s first trade scenario here has the Jets acquiring the All-Pro offensive tackle from the Green Bay Packers in exchange for a 2024 seventh-round pick (256th overall). The second trade proposal has the Jets landing Adams in exchange for the No. 72 pick and a 2025 second-round pick:
“Bringing in David Bakhtiari, one of Rodgers’ longtime friends and blindside protectors, could shore up the offensive trenches. While Bakhtiari is at the tail end of his career and is coming off a fourth knee surgery in three years, the 32-year-old could make one last run at a ring in the Big Apple…
While Adams made five of his six Pro Bowls and two of his three All-Pro teams during his stint in Titletown, the Packers never made it beyond the NFC Championship Game with him. Coming to New York for a realistic chance to win a ring in the twilight of his career should appeal to Adams, who has spent the last two seasons putting up big numbers but missing the playoffs with a mediocre Las Vegas Raiders squad.”
The Packers are widely expected to release Bakhtiari, who carries a massive cap hit of just over $40 million for 2024. By releasing the former Pro Bowler, the Packers would save a little over $20.935 million against the cap.

Adams-to-the-Jets has been rumored for a while, but there’s no indicator that the Las Vegas Raiders are shopping their superstar wide receiver. But if you’re a Jets fan, there’s no problem in holding out hope about either trade idea outlined by Kay.
