It’s hard not to love Sunday Night Football’s patented player introductions.
Every week, during the first quarter of the Sunday night contest on NBC, we get to learn a little more about the 22 starting players on each team, as they pop up in the bottom left corner of the screen and let the world know who there are and where they came from.
Most players choose to simply state their name and the college they attended before arriving in the NFL. However, every once in a while we get something different.
Take New York Jets linebacker Jermaine Johnson, for example. The 2022 first-round pick spent a few seasons with the Georgia Bulldogs, before playing his senior season with the Florida State Seminoles. From there, he was taken by the Jets with the 26th overall pick in the draft.
But before any of that, he spent a year at Independence Community College, where he was featured on the fourth season of Netflix’s hit series, “Last Chance U.”
And on Sunday night, when it was Johnson’s turn to introduce himself to the world, he decided to give a shoutout to the documentary that initially put him on the map.

Here’s how NFL fans tuning into SNF on NBC reacted to the intro:
During his freshman year at Independence Community College, Johnson had 58 tackles, eight sacks and three forced fumbles. That was enough to catch the attention of the Bulldogs, as he transferred to Georgia for the following season.
Johnson finished last night’s game against the Chiefs with one tackle for loss while playing on 49 percent of the Jets’ defensive snaps.
Jermaine wasn’t the only Jets player mixing things up for his SNF player intros last night:
I’m sure these won’t be the last unique SNF player intros we see this season.
