Gregg Williams is not going to sit around and watch his good name….well, what’s left of his name get slandered by Odell Beckham Jr.
Earlier this week, the Cleveland Browns WR ripped New York Jets defensive coordinator Gregg Williams after he was informed by some players on the team that they were told to go after him extra hard during a preseason game in 2017, that had OBJ suffering a serious ankle injury a questionable hit from Briean Boddy-Calhoun.
“I had players on this team telling me that’s what he was telling them to do: take me out of the game, and it’s preseason,” Beckham told reporters. “So you just know who he is. That’s the man who’s calling the plays.
“I had people who were here when he was here telling [them], ‘If you get a chance, take a shot at him. If you can hurt him, I guarantee he’s going to leave the game hurt,’ and stuff like that.”
“It’s something that I’ll never forget. It’s something that changed my life forever.”
On Friday, Williams was asked about those comments, but decided to drag the Giants and general manager Dave Gettleman into the fight by implying New York thought so little of Beckham that they shipped him off to Cleveland for damn near nothing.
“That’s your opinion. What’s New York’s opinion, the Giants’ opinion? What did the Giants do? That’s not a question for me,” Williams snapped in response to a question about how dynamic a player Beckham is.
The Browns and Jets will face-off against each other on Monday.
