The Adam Gase era is off to a rocky start and Jets fans seem to be done with their new head coach already. Things only got worse after the team played just terribly enough to allow the Miami Dolphins to get their first win of the year.
On Friday, Jets fans furthered showed their frustrations when New Yorkers spotted a plane above carrying a “Fire Adam Gase now!” banner.
Mollie Walker of the New York Post would then reveal that the banner is the product of the NYSF Blog, a group of New York sports fans. They reportedly sought donations from fans to fly the banner over New York. As of Friday evening, they had raised over $3,000 on their GoFundMe page.
The fans blog reads as:
“While Adam Gase’s name was on the back of the plane, this movement is actually about holding ownership accountable for their actions over the past decade. In reality, that plane should have read “SELL THE TEAM!” but we know that they have absolutely no intention of doing that.
What do we hope to accomplish?
The #FireAdamGase movement is about encouraging change to the people and process involved in making bad hire after bad hire. It’s about ownership moving on from who we feel is a terrible head coach. Somehow, the Jets managed to attract a GM (Joe Douglas) with a pedigree who is well regarded around the league. How about you fully let him do the job you brought him here to do and hire the next coach?”
The Jets are currently 1-7 and tied with the Miami Dolphins for last place in the AFC East.
