The New York Jets are all in on Aaron Rodgers, yet they may seek out another option should they fail in their pursuit of the veteran quarterback.
The Jets reckon they’re a QB away from a Super Bowl and they do appear to have some weapons, especially defensively. So a player of Rodgers’ caliber could possibly turn them into contenders.
Rodgers had top brass from the Jets fly to meet him on Tuesday and the ball is said to now be in his court. While some bear the notion that it’s Rodgers or bust for NY this offseason, with Derek Carr agreeing on a deal with the Saints, Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer reckons there’s a chance they could look to trade for Lamar Jackson if it doesn’t work out with Rodgers.
Carr was unwilling to wait around for the team to weigh their options and has secured a new jersey heading into 2023/24. But Jackson’s availability means that another top QB could be in the mix.
Breer, who was responding to questions from fans, pointed out that Jets general manager Joe Douglas has a great relationship with the Ravens.
I think they’ll explore it if they strike out on Rodgers. Remember, Jets GM Joe Douglas has close ties to the Ravens, so his information on Jackson will be really good, and for all the slings and arrows he’s taken, OC Nathaniel Hackett’s a creative guy who could build an offense for Jackson. It’s an intriguing idea.

The Ravens placed the franchise tag on Jackson this week and, as it’s non-exclusive, he’s able to negotiate with other teams. A number of organizations have strangely removed themselves as potential destinations but things could get really interesting if the Jets end up missing out on Rodgers and opts to make Jackson a target instead.
