The 2023 season will mark the first time ever that the NFL will play a game on Black Friday.
The league has regularly played three games on Thanksgiving Day, followed by a regular slate on Sunday and Monday. But this time around they’re giving fans something extra to be thankful for.
As for the matchup for the first ever Black Friday game, it features Tua Tagovailoa and the Miami Dolphins against Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets.
Playing in the AFC East together, these teams face off against one another twice each season. In this instance, the game will take place at MetLife Stadium, with an 8pm kickoff time.
While both teams were pretty competitive last season — with Miami and New York finishing 9-8 and 7-10, respectively — this year’s matchup comes with a lot more intrigue following the Jets’ trade for four-time MVP quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
These two teams split their meetings last season, with the home team winning on both occasions. Should they both come into this year’s Black Friday contest at relatively full health, it should turn out to be a good one.
