On Friday, President Donald Trump took to social media and issued a call to “liberate Minnesota.” He actually had a series of tweet that called for the “liberation” of Michigan, Minnesota and Virginia, states controlled by Democratic governors that have issued orders limiting travel and social gathering during the COVID-19 pandemic.
On Saturday, Winnipeg Jets captain Blake Wheeler took to Twitter and not only disagreed with Trump’s actions, but fired back at under his post.
The 33-year-old might play for the Winnipeg Jets but he was born in Plymouth and grew up near Robbinsdale, both of which aren’t far from Minneapolis.
He was the University of Minnesota for three years before he began his NHL career.
Hours after President Donald Trump tweeted to “liberate Minnesota,” hundreds of protesters took to the streets in St. Paul to protest Gov. Tim Walz’s home to protest his stay at home order.
