Jerry Rice is surely not a fan of Antonio Brown. Just last month, Rice joined ‘Joe, Lo & Dibs’ on spoke on how he thought he was lied to and played by Antonio Brown when he spoke with him earlier this season about how he wanted to play in the Bay and with the 49ers.
“We all got played, man,” Rice said. “We did.”
“I’m gonna be honest with you, because, this guy, he contacted me and he told me that he wanted to play ball here in the Bay Area. He wanted to be part of the San Francisco 49ers.”
“So, I bought into it because I can only take a man at his word and stuff like that. But I think this, it was pretty much already planned. He had to take a different direction. First of all, I think when he asked to be released by the Steelers, he wanted to go to the Patriots. He wanted them to trade him to the Patriots. And there was no way that the Steelers would trade him to a rival. So he had to go a different route. And he decided to come through the Bay Area. And I feel sorry for the fans over in Oakland…”
Things may have changed just a bit, because now the pro football hall of famer was asked by Sports Illustrated if he had a message for Brown now that he is without a job and his comments pretty much echoed what he had to say in September.
“Not really. I just wish he was still on the football field.” Rice said. “He would have been one of those guys to line up with, very similar to a Terrell Owens. You knew that this guy was going to go out and play his best football. I really don’t have a message for him. With Antonio, he wanted to go straight to the Patriots but there was no way Pittsburgh was going to trade him to a rival. He had to go through a different avenue and he did that. He signed with the Oakland Raiders and that didn’t work out the way he wanted to. Then he went to the Patriots and it’s unfortunate that he’s out of football right now.”

Brown was cut by the Patriots, not because of the sexual assault allegations against him, but because he sent harassing text messages to a second woman while he was a current member of the franchise.
He’s recently filed grievances to get $40 million from the Raiders and the Patriots.
Brown is talented enough that he will eventually get back on the field, we’re just not sure if it will be this season.
