The San Francisco 49ers and Dallas Cowboys battled to the bitter end of Sunday’s nostalgic NFC wild-card meeting.
Ultimately, a strong Niners defensive effort combined with a plethora of Dallas mistakes allowed San Francisco to emerge with a 23-17 victory in the first postseason meeting between the teams since 1995.
After the game, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones sounded like a man who just lost his puppy.
Jerry was clearly distraught after the loss. He had high hopes for his team entering the postseason, feeling as though they had the talent on their roster to go all the way. “Extremely, extremely disappointing. And surprising,” the Cowboys owner said to the media on Sunday night when describing how he felt about the loss.
Jones added that he “can’t remember” the last time he was this disappointed.
