This past Sunday, NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport reported that Dak Prescott was likely not getting the huge contract he wants and was headed toward a franchise tag for the 2020 season. The Cowboys and their QB have reportedly made no significant progress on a new contract.
“As Dallas is set to face the Minnesota Vikings tonight, there is “nothing going on,” per one source.
This means Prescott is headed toward the franchise tag this offseason. At this point in the season, with a tag looming, it’s hard to imagine a new deal getting done. That said, neither side has put a deadline on it and talks could kick into gear at any point.”
Jerry Jones was informed of that report and he disputed it entirely.
Appearing on 105.3 The Fan on Tuesday morning , the Dallas Cowboys owner said an NFL Network insider has “no idea” what he’s talking about.
“He [the reporter] has no idea. Because I would be the only one that knows whether he’s right or wrong. And I can tell you he has no idea,” Jones said.
The Cowboys have time to figure, so right now their main focus is the season as they fell to 5-4 following a 28-24 loss to the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday Night Football at AT&T Stadium.
