The Dallas Cowboys have continued to express confidence in signing Dak Prescott to a long-term deal despite his season-ending ankle injury, but their words to the media don’t seem to be supported by their actions that are soon to come.
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is prepared to place the franchise tag on Prescott once again in 2021, Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reports.
“Jerry Jones is prepared to tag quarterback Dak Prescott again in 2021, according to numerous sources with knowledge of the situation, setting up another offseason of negotiations between the beloved player and the front office.”
Prescott is already playing the 2020 season under the franchise tag and is set to hit free agency in 2021.
The franchise tag will be close to $40 million for Prescott in 2021.
Prescott wrapped up the 2020 season with 1,856 passing yards and nine touchdowns for the Cowboys, who have a 2-3 record on the season and are currently in first place in the NFC East standings.
