Jerry Jones has seemingly taken on a hard-nosed approach to the contract negotiations between Ezekiel Elliott and the Dallas Cowboys, because he refuses to stop speaking about it publicly.
During an appearance on 105.3 The Fan on Friday morning, the Cowboys owner not only took a swipe at Elliott for not honoring his contract, he pretty much highlighted the ridiculous hypocrisy within the NFL when he said one of his concerns would be that Elliott could just hold out again next year since “we’re not gonna honor contracts.”
That’s a cute way to try and make Elliott look bad, but teams have shown many times before they will cut a player with the quickness if they deem to be a liability or just making too much money for the production they put out.
Case in point: Jerry Jones didn’t honor the contract of Dez Bryant when he cut him in 2018 when he still had two years left on his contract.
Zeke is arguably the best running back in football and has seen time and time again tailbacks getting screwed on their money by either waiting or taking team friendly deals to help the team.
Elliott is scheduled to make just $3.8 million this season and $9.1 million in 2020.
