Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has revealed the team’s strategy as it pertains to strengthening ahead of the deadline.
Unsurprisingly, the strategy is to have no strategy as Jones isn’t looking to make any trades before the window closes on October 31. While he has not shut the door on potential moves, the Cowboys owner suggested that the team will not be the one to reach out, so any talks over trades would have to be initiated by other organizations.
“The initiation of an opportunity to make a trade at this time that would help us principally has to start over on the other end,” Jones told Dallas’ 105.3 The Fan on Tuesday morning, per Michael Gehlken of the Dallas Morning News. “I like where we are with our personnel today.”
Jones’ comments angered Cowboys fans, especially after they came one day after NFC rivals Philadelphia made a massive upgrade to their secondary.

The Eagles acquired All-Pro safety Kevin Byard from the Tennessee Titans in exchange for safety Terrell Edmunds and 2024 fifth and sixth-round picks on Monday. The Philly-born star is a two-time first-team All-Pro who led the NFL in interceptions in 2017 with eight.
Following news of the trade, Skip Bayless predicted Jones would not respond to Howie Roseman’s move out of pride. It appears the outspoken Cowboys fan was correct.
