This is good news for the Dallas Cowboys and the rest of their 2022 season.
According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, Prescott could return in four-to-six weeks after the surgery on his right thumb went well. That new timeline could have Prescott return in mid-October.
Jerry Jones would confirm that news during an interview on 105.3 The Fan, via Adam Schefter.
“Jerry Jones said on 105.3 The Fan that the Cowboys won’t put Dak Prescott on injured reserve and that he thinks his injured quarterback could return within the next four games.”
The former Mississippi State standout was replaced by backup Cooper Rush, who is expected to start for the Cowboys during their Week 2 game against the Cincinnati Bengals.

The Cowboys will look to get to 1-1 on the season when they take on the Cincinnati Bengals on Sept. 18.
Prescott finished Sunday’s game with 134 yards and one interception on 14 of 29 passing and was sacked twice by the Buccaneers defense.
