A blockbuster trade idea has the Dallas Cowboys landing another big-time weapon for quarterback Dak Prescott.
Dallas lacked a quality WR2 to complement CeeDee Lamb in 2022, but Jerry Jones made a savvy move by acquiring veteran Brandin Cooks from the Houston Texans earlier this offseason. But what if Jones wants to make the offense even scarier?
Denver Broncos’ star wideout Jerry Jeudy has been mentioned in trade rumors for several months now. Over at ClutchPoints, Tim Crean suggested that the Cowboys try to complete a trade for the Alabama product:
“A Cowboys trade for Jeudy would unite the young wideout with Lamb, the receiver who went two picks after him in the NFL draft. These two would be incredibly dynamic on the outside, and Cooks would have a ton of space to operate in the slot.
The biggest reason theses Cowboys trades need to happen this offseason has to do more with the quarterback situation than anything else…
In 2024, Dallas must extend Prescott or cut him so they don’t have to pay him $59.4 million next season. With that decision coming down the pike, going all in on a player like Jerry Jeudy is the best way to know if Prescott is still the QB of the future or if his time in Big D is coming to an end.”
The Broncos picked up the fifth-year option on Jeudy’s rookie deal, keeping him under contract through 2024. The No. 15 selection of the 2020 draft is coming off the best season of his career, in which he caught 67 passes for 972 yards and six touchdowns despite missing two games.
Dallas finished fourth in scoring last season, averaging 27.5 points per game. They released two-time rushing champion Ezekiel Elliott in a cap-saving move and placed the franchise tag on lead rusher Tony Pollard, keeping the latter under contract for at least one more year.

The Cowboys also lost a serviceable tight end in Dalton Schultz. Jones tried replacing him by selecting Michigan tight end Luke Schoonmaker in the second round at No. 58 overall.
If Dallas found a way to land Jeudy? Their offense would be well-positioned to finish even better than a year ago. But of course, it remains to be seen if Denver is actually keen on trading its top wideout.
