Jerry Jeudy has spoken after getting crushed by Steve Smith on live television prior to the Denver Broncos losing to the Kansas City Chiefs.
Smith, one of the best receivers in NFL history, having played for a total of 16 years with the Carolina Panthers and Baltimore Ravens while recording the eighth-most receiving yards in league history, went in on the Broncos WR after Jeudy refused his attempt at an apology.
The 44-year-old had referred to Jeudy as a “JAG,” meaning Just Another Guy, on his ‘Cut To It’ podcast and revealed having approached the wideout to say he was sorry. He became incensed after Jeudy told him “Ninja, I don’t mess with you” and repeated the comment.
Smith would go in on Jeudy during NFL Network’s Thursday Night Football pregame show, during which the Broncos receiver heckled him and danced in the background.
“I’m sorry I said you were a JAG, just a guy who is an average wide receiver they [the Denver Broncos] used a first-round pick on that isn’t doing anything. I hope today you actually show up in a way that you haven’t shown up in the last couple years since they drafted you,” Smith said in a fiery apology of sorts.
“So if you ever got a problem with Agent 89, I’m sorry for saying that you are an average wide receiver that they will eventually move on from. When teams call me to ask if they should trade for you, I will say ‘No, don’t trade for Jerry Jeudy because he is mentally unable to handle constructive criticism who watch specifically if you can be a wide receiver. He’s a tier three.”
Speaking to reporters after the 19-8 loss, Jeudy ignored questions about Smith before saying he didn’t remember anything about the attempted apology.

Jeudy wasn’t able to let his game speak for himself on the night either as he finished the game with just three catches, 14 yards, and no touchdowns.
To be fair, though, Jeudy was under no obligation to accept a private apology following some very public criticism.
