It’s a new era in New England, where Jerod Mayo was officially introduced as the next head coach of the Patriots. It was done while owner Robert Kraft sat next to him at a press conference.
The duo appeared excited to begin this new chapter of the franchise and Mayo’s history with the organization certainly made things easier for Kraft upon the departure of Bill Belichick.
The owner-head coach relationship is definitely a crucial part of any pairing and one moment proved how much these two like each other.
When Kraft mispronounced Mayo’s brother’s name, the latter chimed in with some hilarious help.
“It’s one of those black names. I’ll help you with that,” Mayo said, per Ari Meirov.
His comment made everyone start laughing.

Mayo played all eight of his NFL seasons with the Patriots and is now entering his sixth year as a coach in New England. He was the Pats inside linebackers coach for the past five seasons and his reputation quickly grew as many saw him as a future head coach. Kraft clearly saw it and wanted to make sure that no other team would snatch him up.
Mayo will now usher in a new era that Kraft is hoping returns to the team back to the glory days of when Tom Brady led the team to six Super Bowls.
