Jerod Mayo has hinted that the Patriots will draft a quarterback this year, which should spell the end for Mac Jones in New England.
The new head coach is facing a challenging offseason after replacing Bill Belichick last week as he is expected to lay the groundwork that will turn the organization’s fortunes around following their 4-13 finish last season.
The Pats will likely be very active in free agency but also have the No. 3 overall pick for the upcoming NFL Draft and will have the chance to draft either one of Caleb Williams, Drake Maye, or Jayden Daniels, who are all headed to the pros after remarkable college careers.
They will also have clear shots at some of the most promising wide receivers, including Marvin Harrison Jr., yet it appears Mayo has his heart set on bringing a rookie QB in.
“We’re gonna draft the best player for a position that is very important,” he told WBZ’s Steve Burton in a recent interview. “You put the pieces together.”

It sure does seem like the new Pats HC is keen on drafting a signal-caller, but we can’t say for sure.
Who knows? Maybe he has a receiver in mind. In any case, it will be an interesting offseason for New England, and Mayo will be at the center of it all.
