Newly released text messages from NFL Hall of Famer Brett Favre show he was much more involved in pushing for millions of federal welfare dollars to be diverted from helping poor families to instead pay for a new volleyball facility at the school where his daughter played the sport.
A ton of sports figures have commented on the situation, and that includes Fox Sports’ Shannon Sharpe.
During Wednesday’s episode of Undisputed, the Hall of Fame tight end put Favre on blast.
“I talked to people that was in the room when Brett Favre went to the Hall of Fame and nobody mentioned about text messages that he sent to [Jen Sterger],’ Sharpe said. “Nobody mentioned anything about the addiction that he suffered from. But yet T.O. [Terrell Owens] they brought up everything.”
Sharp continued: “You got to be a sorry mofo to steal from the lowest – Mississippi is the poorest state in our country. Brett Favre is taking from the underserved. You made $100+ million in the NFL.”
Jemele Hill of The Atlantic watched the video and was in favor of every word he had to say.
“Every word of this,” Hill tweeted.

This is hardly the first time Favre has dealt with sketchy text messages. Favre also was investigated by the NFL over allegations that he had sent inappropriate photos to a Jets TV host. The league ultimately said it could not conclude that he had violated the NFL’s conduct policies, but fined him $50,000 for failing to cooperate with the investigation.
Favre has said publicly that he did not know the funds were welfare dollars and that he believes he did nothing wrong.
Those text messages prove otherwise.
