Looks like Mike McDaniels is adding another one of his former running backs from the San Francisco 49ers, as the Miami Dolphins have acquired Jeff Wilson in a deadline day trade with the Niners.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the compensation is a 2023 fifth-round pick for San Fran, who were looking to unload the bruising back after getting Christian McCaffrey from the Carolina Panthers a few weeks ago.
Prior to the trade for McCaffrey, Wilson was acting as the 49ers’ workhorse running back.
Through eight games, this season, Wilson had six starts and accumulated 468 rushing yards and two touchdowns, along with another 91 yards through the air. He will now likely be the immediate backup to former Niners teammate Raheem Mostert.
